S.O.S.

Last weekend was halloween and I prepped the whole week buying some odds and ends in the centre. I found a witch hat, a pumpkin- very surprised and carved it but it was very difficult and some kind of spanish pumpkin, and some witch teeth. Who says halloween is just in the great US of A? Carmens parents, sister and boyfriend came on Friday night to celebrate Todos Los Santos or All Saints day with some delicious treats that are only served on this night/day. Earlier in the week Ricard is just getting over his cough when I started to get a scratchy throat... I thought that I could sleep off whatever I was coming down with and maybe if I didn't say I was sick out loud it would just go away. Well by Thursday I was feelin pretty bad (terrible actually) but I had to be in tip top shape Friday beacuse I had both boys the entire day. Yes the entire day. 745 to 745. Ricard took a 2 hour nap but feisty Alfons was far from it. News flash: This job is HARD! I planned to go out and spend a good majority of the day out of the house but since yes, it is "rainy" season here, we had to stay in. We made a quick/ wet trip to the centre to pick up some ingredients for a pumpkin dip and to mail some things. I found all the ingredients minus some vanilla and thought the recipe would still be OK. I was so far from the consistency of the dip I ended up just throwing it all away. It was so sick and I was so sick I wasted about an hour trying to make it. I wanted to bring something to the built up halloween/todos los santos dinner so I looked up some recipes online and I found some peanut butter fudge recipe. I don't think this was exactly right but it turned out at least edible. You cant really go wrong with peanut butter and sugar...
I was pretty much in a daze when Alfonso came home and quickly retreated for some much needed ALONE time. I showered, pretended even longer that I wasn't sick and put on my sub-par halloween costume.

Everyone showed up around 10 and we probably started dinner at 1030. After eating/talking/ listening to everyone who very nicely spoke spanish instead of catalan my body was quickly started to fail. I had been taking ibuprofen consistently and knew I had a fever. We finished dessert and talking around 1 and I crashed in my room.

My body hasn't felt so terrible since 400 IM group plus the fact I had a fever. I ended up staying in bed ALL WEEKEND. I was trying to fight this possibly strep throat alone and couldn't go any farther. Sunday I decided I had to go to the doctors even thought I had been avoiding it all weekend long. It turned out I did have the same thing as Ricard I just didn't treat anything so it just became ridiculous. In Spain you can buy antibiotics over the counter and Carmen actually had some amox on hand. I started to take it and am still on it. Who knew we had the medicine right in the house? I suffered for nothing!

I was still down and out Sunday night and Carmen and Alfonso decided to give me one more day rest and took Ricard Monday to her mothers house. I only had to pick up Alfons at the bus stop. I was feeling wayyyy better Monday morning and pretty much 100% now. Advice: don't wait to get antibiotics or fight it yourself. it is NOT worth it..

Today, Friday is Carmen and Alfonso's 5th anniversary and they are going out of town for the weekend... Lorena, Carmen's sister is coming tonight to help with the boys, although I know I could handle if I had to now. I still have my Spanish class tomorrow morning but I am basically working all weekend. Can't wait for the adventures... or can I?
